Fields of Mistria Dragon Forged Core — Recipe & Uses
The Dragon-Forged Core in Fields of Mistria is not something you loot from monsters or dig out of the Mines — you craft it yourself at The Dragon Forge from Monster Core (5), Mistril Ingot (1), Pink Diamond (1), Ancient Firefly (1), and Medium Essence Stone (1), after the recipe is unlocked through the story. Its most important use is the "Repair the Bell Tower" story quest, which demands one Dragon-Forged Core alongside a bundle of construction materials, and it also feeds several high-end Woodcrafting and Blacksmithing recipes.
How to Craft the Dragon-Forged Core
Dragon-Forged Cores are materials created via Dragon-forging, a special crafting discipline that uses The Dragon Forge in the Ancient Ruins section of the Mines. The Dragon Forge itself is unlocked during the story quest "Find the Magic Key", and the Dragon-Forged Core recipe becomes available after completing the story quest "The Dragonsworn Tablet" — so if the recipe does not appear at the forge, that quest is the prerequisite you are missing.
Each craft takes 50 minutes, requires skill level 30, and produces a core that sells for 1,020t if you ever ship one instead of using it. Here is the exact recipe:

The Dragon Forge also produces sibling materials worth knowing about: the Dragon-Forged Fang (Void Stone ×5, Void Herb ×5, Medium Essence Stone ×1) is the Core's partner in the Bell Tower repair, and the same station handles other dragon-forged crafts once their recipes are unlocked through the story.
Farming the Ingredients Efficiently
Nearly everything in this recipe points back to the Ancient Ruins, the fifth and final biome of the Mines, spanning floors 81–99. Each floor is shrouded in darkness when you first enter it: mineable Mistril and certain monsters give off a small radius of light, each piece of Mistril equipment you wear widens that radius slightly, and the Sacred Light spell can light an entire floor for 5 real-world minutes.
For Monster Cores, hunt monsters rather than rocks. The Purple Flame Spirits that appear on floors 81–89 and 91–99 of the Ancient Ruins drop Monster Cores roughly 30% of the time, alongside Wood and Peat. For Pink Diamonds and Mistril Ore, break the named nodes on the same floors. One planning tip worth repeating from Bell Tower runs: the Dragon-Forged Core and the Dragon-Forged Fang each consume one Medium Essence Stone, so you need two in total if you are crafting both for the tower repair. Confirm your Pink Diamond and firefly are safely stored before spending rare drops on optional crafts.
When several materials are missing at once, gather in this order: check storage for the Pink Diamond and Ancient Firefly first, count both Medium Essence Stones, finish the Monster Cores for the Core, finish the Void materials for the Fang, and only then fill any remaining Mistril Ore, Hardwood, or Refined Stone gap. Craft the Core or Fang the moment one full recipe is ready — a finished quest component is much easier to track than five loose rare materials.
Repair the Bell Tower Quest
The Dragon-Forged Core is required to complete the story quest "Repair the Bell Tower". Unlocking the quest takes several steps: finish the Saturday Market Plaza project, meet Zorel at her stall in the expanded Saturday Market, then wait for her follow-up letter asking you to meet her, Adeline, and Landen at the sealed Bell Tower. If the letter never arrives, work down this checklist: the Plaza is fully constructed, Zorel has appeared at the market, you have spoken to her there, and you have slept and checked the next day's mail.
After the tower meeting, a Donation Box appears outside the entrance. The repair requires 20 Refined Stone, 30 Hardwood, 1 Dragon-Forged Core, and 1 Dragon-Forged Fang — the two Dragon-Forged items must be fully crafted first, because raw Monster Cores or Void Herbs do not count toward those slots. Hardwood comes from the trees and large stumps of the Deep Woods, and Refined Stone from normal stone processing. Deposit finished categories early so the materials cannot be spent elsewhere by accident.
Filling the Donation Box is not the final step. Once all four material lines are complete, you must find Adeline and tell her the materials are ready — that conversation is the trigger that finishes the repair. You do not need to wait for another Saturday Market, another night of sleep, or a specific time of day.
The opened tower contains the Crystal Resonator, which lets you change the sound of Mistria's town bell; visible options include Default, Gothic, Meow, Moonlight Through My Window, Nostalgic, School Bell, and Shaking Off a Storm, and the chosen sound plays when the bell rings around nightfall. Completing the repair also satisfies the Ringing Ovation achievement. Keep this in mind: the Bell Tower Resonator changes the town bell, while a placeable Crystal Resonator from Zorel plays Song Crystals in whatever room you put it — buying a placeable one does not unlock the Bell Tower.
Other Uses: Furniture and the Engagement Ring
Beyond quests, the Dragon-Forged Core feeds several late-game recipes. In Blacksmithing, it is a component of the Engagement Ring (Diamond ×2, Mistril Ingot ×4, Gold Ingot ×4, Dragon-Forged Core ×1) — the item you use to propose to a romantic partner after reaching 10 hearts. If marriage is on your roadmap, budget one core for it.
In Woodcrafting, cores go into premium furniture: the Espresso Machine (Gold Ingot ×20, Diamond ×10, Dragon-Forged Core ×1), which prepares a hot cup of espresso each morning and whose recipe is sold at Darcy's Saturday Market stall, plus the Witch Queen Moon Lamp (with a Shard Mass and a Void Pearl) and the Witch Queen Rug from the Witch Queen set. The core can also be given as a gift, and it is required for Seridia's request for a Dragon-Forged Core, so keeping a spare in storage is rarely wasted.
