Fields of Mistria 1.0 Update: All New Features Explained

Fields of Mistria 1.0 launched on August 5, 2026, exactly two years after the game entered Steam Early Access on August 5, 2024. The update finishes the story arcs Early Access players were waiting for: marriage, children, the completed Town Repair questline, a Town Renown cap of 100, a heart level cap of 10, Steam Achievements, and beta localizations in 7 languages. Two hotfixes (v1.0.1 and v1.0.2) followed within days of release.

NPC Studio framed the launch with the line "1.0 is only the beginning," and has said it will keep collecting feedback now that full release is out. The studio also confirmed it will evaluate potential console ports after the 1.0 launch — see our Fields of Mistria Switch page for the platform situation.

Marriage, Children, and 10-Heart Events

The headline of 1.0 is the complete relationship arc. The NPC heart level cap rose to 10, and reaching 10 hearts with someone you're dating unlocks a 10-Heart Proposal Event. The Engagement Ring becomes craftable at a Forge once you hit 10 hearts — Elsie delivers the recipe the morning after. Proposal events can be retriggered with the ring until you actually propose, so you can preview every candidate's scene before committing.

Once engaged, wedding elements are set through planning dialogue with your fiancé in the days before the ceremony — flower color, cake flavor, and the meal served at the reception are all customizable. After the wedding, post-marriage dialogue and new NPC routines kick in, and you can kiss any NPC you're dating, engaged to, or married to. Each candidate's 10-Heart Proposal Event also grants a unique "NPC Special Item," and since events can be retriggered, collectors can see every event and item before choosing a spouse.

Children are optional. A cutscene in the weeks after your marriage delivers the Mystical Feather, which starts an optional family-planning discussion for players who want a child. Two community-requested settings also arrived: you can disable the break-up letters, or disable the automatic "Dating" to "Best Friends" status change entirely, when you get engaged while dating multiple NPCs.

Town Repair, Renown, and the Museum

The Town Repair questline can now be completed, ending the central restoration story. Two new quests anchor the finish: "Saturday Market Plaza" and "Repair the Bell Tower." The Town Renown cap is now 100, and the Mistril Town Rank Event was added, with Town Rank Quests to better guide progression.

Two vendors join the Saturday Market. Stillwell unlocks Mission Quests from his Mission Board, and Zorel sells Crystal Resonators and Song Crystals, which let you customize the music on your farm and in your home. The Museum can now be fully completed, with 2 new collection sets — the Honey Set and Terrarium Treasures Set — plus associated rewards, and Museum Wing rooms you can walk through.

Achievements, Localization, and Smaller Additions

Steam Achievements arrived with 1.0 and are retroactive: load an existing save and achievements populate from that save's data. If you'd rather earn them fresh, start a new save file. Beta localizations launched for 7 languages — Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish — which the official FAQ describes as roughly 75% complete at the 1.0 release.

The update also adds 7 new perks (including Cooking's "Espresso Yourself" and Ranching's "True Trust"), the Big Chicken mount, and the combat perk "Friend-Shaped," which makes all monsters drop Pet Skins so your pet can wear a monster's appearance. Fully upgraded houses can now pick from exterior styles at the Carpenter's Shop, and a new "Friday Night at the Inn" storyline continues after the Mines storyline.

Performance got attention too: the 1.0 notes report VRAM usage reduced by over 50% alongside broader performance improvements, and new graphics settings including brightness and saturation sliders.

Quality of Life, Art, and Sound

A large share of 1.0's smaller changes came straight from community feedback (marked with a 🌼 in the official notes). You can now rotate your character in the customization menu, drop rates on Mines treasure chest loot improved, Ritual Chambers and Treasure rooms spawn more commonly, and the speak interaction now takes priority when several interactions overlap near an NPC. One much-requested touch: your animals are fed and crops watered automatically during March's 8-Heart Event.

The presentation got quieter upgrades too. Cloud shadows now drift across the map on sunny days, the Bathhouse water wheel animates, and new furniture sets (Monster, Ornate, Bonsai, Dragon) and cosmetics (including the Barrel Hat, Wedding Outfits, Beetle Mandible Horns, and Dragonfly Wings) joined the decoration pool. New Requests were added to the Request Board, and previously inaccessible cooking recipes are now obtainable in-game.

On the audio side, there's a new winter song, 4 existing seasonal tracks swap to extended versions as you progress, and 10 additional songs are unlockable through Zorel's Song Crystals.

Post-Launch Hotfixes

v1.0.1 shipped the same day as 1.0 and fixed a list of named crashes, including a Friday-save schedule crash, a Mistmare-viewing crash in the Ranching UI, an Arena Room entry crash, a crash from skipping the Breaking the Fire Seal cutscene, and a crash from inviting the secret bachelor to the Harvest Festival. v1.0.2 followed two days later with additional fixes and improved performance when AMD or Nvidia overlays render in the game window.
