Fields of Mistria Gift Guide: Every Candidate's Loved Gifts
This fields of mistria gift guide is a quick-reference for what to give every marriage candidate in Fields of Mistria. Each of the 12 romanceable characters has 10 loved gifts that give the biggest friendship boost, and the full table is below. If you only read one section, read the table — then check the universal dislikes so you stop handing people acorns.
How Gifting Works
You can give one gift per character per day, and days when you gave a liked or loved gift are marked in the Villagers list of the pause menu. Any liked or loved gifts you have given also show up on that character's page afterwards, so the game itself becomes your reference sheet over time.
Talking to an NPC once a day is worth a small amount of friendship on top of gifts, and gifts given on a character's birthday — visible on the calendar or at the start of the day — earn even more friendship. Placing in the top three at the Spring Festival also raises friendship with the town.
Nearly every character dislikes two whole categories of items. Junk covers things like Acorns, Cattail Fluff, Sod, and Sap, while Weird Gifts are items that make no sense as presents, such as Dog Treats, Cat Treats, and animal-breeding foods. When in doubt, give food, gems, or flowers instead.
Loved Gifts by Marriage Candidate
The table below lists the 10 loved gifts for each of the 12 marriage candidates, including the two hidden unlockable characters: Caldarus (unlocked by progressing the Mines) and Seridia, the Priestess. Loved gifts give the largest friendship gain, so prioritize them when you can.
| Candidate | Loved Gifts |
|---|---|
| Adeline | Coffee, Gazpacho, Lemon Pie, Middlemist, Mistril Ingot, Peaches and Cream, Perfect Pink Diamond, Plum Blossom, Pumpkin Pie, Cup of Tea |
| Balor | Alda Gem Bracelet, Apple Honey Curry, Chili Coconut Curry, Deluxe Curry, Family Crest Pendant, Perfect Diamond, Perfect Emerald, Perfect Pink Diamond, Perfect Ruby, Perfect Sapphire |
| Caldarus | Apple Honey Curry, Fried Rice, Harvest Plate, Mont Blanc, Seafood Boil, Seafood Snow Pea Noodles, Spring Galette, Statuette of Caldarus, Sushi Platter, Veggie Sub Sandwich |
| Celine | Breath of Flame, Crystal Rose, Essence Blossom, Frost Lily, Hydrangea, Middlemist, Plum Blossom, Rose, Snowdrop Anemone, Spring Galette |
| Eiland | Chocolate Cake, Coconut Cream Pie, Glowberry Cookies, Golden Cheesecake, Golden Cookies, Ice Cream Sundae, Mont Blanc, Pumpkin Pie, Spell Fruit Parfait, Strawberry Shortcake |
| Hayden | Golden Butter, Golden Cheese, Golden Duck Egg, Golden Duck Mayonnaise, Golden Egg, Golden Mayonnaise, Golden Milk, Pumpkin Pie, Stone Horse, Vegetable Quiche |
| Juniper | Ancient Royal Scepter, Black Tablet, Crystal Rose, Fish Tacos, Golden Cookies, Hardened Essence, Moon Fruit Cake, Mushroom Brew, Pizza, Spell Fruit Parfait |
| March | Dragon-Forged Bracelet, Gold Ingot, Meteorite, Mistril Ingot, Perfect Copper Ore, Perfect Gold Ore, Perfect Iron Ore, Perfect Mistril Ore, Perfect Silver Ore, Sushi Platter |
| Reina | Apple Honey Curry, Breaded Catfish, Cabbage Slaw, Ice Cream Sundae, Incredibly Hot Pot, Rosemary Garlic Noodles, Seafood Boil, Seafood Snow Pea Noodles, Spell Fruit Parfait, Sushi Platter |
| Ryis | Golden Bristle, Golden Bull Horn, Golden Cheesecake, Golden Cookies, Golden Duck Feather, Golden Rooster Feather, Golden Horse Hair, Hard Wood, Lobster Roll, Veggie Sub Sandwich |
| Seridia | Dragon-Forged Fang, Dragon-Forged Core, Dragon-Forged Horn, Dragon-Forged Powder, Dragon Pact Tablet, Monster Mash, Perfect Mistril Ore, Spell Fruit Parfait, Hardened Essence, Unknown Dragon Statuette |
| Valen | Beet, Beet Salad, Beet Soup, Deep Sea Soup, Dragon Scale, Harvest Plate, Rosemary Garlic Noodles, Summer Salad, Sushi Platter, Vegetable Soup |
A few patterns worth knowing: Sushi Platter is loved by Caldarus, March, Reina, and Valen; Perfect Pink Diamond is loved by Adeline and Balor; and Spring Galette shows up for both Caldarus and Celine. Cooking one big-batch recipe can therefore feed several relationships at once.
Easy Wins and Traps to Avoid
Cooked dishes dominate the loved lists, so upgrading your kitchen early pays off across the whole town. If you cannot cook a loved recipe yet, fall back on each character's liked gifts — flowers for Celine, ores and ingots for March, animal products for Hayden and Ryis — which still move the bar every day.
Watch out for character-specific hates hiding inside otherwise safe categories. Adeline hates Morel Mushroom even though mushrooms are fine for others, Balor hates Ants, Celine hates Caterpillars, and Caldarus hates the Unknown Dragon Statuette — an item Seridia happens to love. Bugs in general are a disliked category for most marriage candidates, so keep your catches for Luc instead.
If you are ever unsure what to hand someone, talk to Elsie: she passes along a piece of gift gossip every day, telling you which character likes which item. Between her hints and the gift history recorded in the Villagers menu, you rarely need to guess twice.
Checking Preferences In-Game
You do not need to memorize this table. The heart icon in the pause menu opens the Villagers list, which shows your friendship progress with everyone in town, and each character's page records the liked and loved gifts you have already given them. A small icon also pops up over your head whenever a heart level increases, similar to skill level-ups.
Romanceable characters are marked with a heart next to their dialogue box and portrait, so you can confirm at a glance whether your gift target is a future spouse or a platonic friend. Non-romanceable residents like Darcy, Elsie, and Olric still have loved gifts worth learning — friendship with them is its own reward and fills out the town's social web.
From Gifts to Romance
Gifts are the engine, but hearts gate the story. Heart events trigger at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 hearts for marriage candidates, delivered by mail that tells you where to go. After the 8-heart event you choose between Dating and Best Friends — a permanent decision — and at 10 hearts you can craft an Engagement Ring and propose.
That means the most efficient romance plan is simple: one loved gift a day, a daily chat, birthday gifts circled on the calendar, and dates on weekends once you are officially dating. For the marriage side of the equation, see our guides to children and wedding outfits below.
